A Baroque church on Krakowskie Przedmieście
The Church of the Visitants is at Krakowskie Przedmieście 34, next to the University of Warsaw. It is also known as the Visitationist Church. Construction began in 1664 and continued until 1761, giving the church its Baroque character.
The Visitation Sisters came to Poland from France through the efforts of Queen Marie Louise Gonzaga. In 1654, she introduced the nuns to a small monastery with a wooden church. The present church is one of the Warsaw monuments that survived the Second World War.
