Inside Parque de la Reserva in Lima, the Magic Water Circuit pairs thirteen fountains with music, colored lights and projections about Peru. Visit in the late afternoon to walk among the fountains before they light up, then watch the evening performance, where water and images tell stories connected to the country’s history. Some fountains invite interaction, which is a draw for families with children. Food stands and small rides add options around the park, but the fountains are the main reason to come.

The fountains and evening show

The Magic Water Circuit is set within Parque de la Reserva, a park in central Lima. Its thirteen fountains vary in shape and style, with some designed for visitors to interact with the water. After dark, colored lights and music bring the fountains into the show. Projections on water and mist include images tied to Peruvian history and national symbols.

The main performance is a storytelling display, combining images with coordinated water and music. It is the standout reason to plan an evening visit. Other fountains provide separate displays around the grounds, so allow time to walk between them rather than arriving just for the central show.

A park with an earlier history

Parque de la Reserva was inaugurated in 1929 in honor of reservists who defended Lima during the Pacific War, including in the battles of San Juan and Miraflores. The Magic Water Circuit was added in 2007 as part of a project to restore public spaces in the city. The older park setting and the later fountain installations give the visit two distinct points of interest.

The complex includes fountains suited to looking at from nearby paths as well as displays that are easier to take in from farther back. One interactive feature forms a passage of water arcs that visitors can walk through. If you are visiting with children, allow time for these water features as well as the evening performance.

Planning your visit

The park is open from 3 pm to 10 pm every day. Arriving in the late afternoon gives you time to see the fountains before the lights come on, then stay for the show. The performance draws crowds, and the viewing area can fill up, so move toward the middle of the long main fountain in advance if you want a clear view.

Food stands and small rides are also available in the park. They can add a stop to a family outing, though the fountains remain the central attraction. The entrance can feel disorganized when people arrive close to showtime, so arriving earlier can make it easier to get inside and find your way around. The address is Jirón Madre de Dios S/N, in Lima.
