Galaxy SOHO is a mixed-use complex in Beijing, near Chaoyangmen station, designed by Zaha Hadid. Four rounded buildings connect through bridges and curving walkways, with courtyards and a central canyon between them. Come to see how the white panels and glass walls form a continuous, flowing design, then explore the offices, shops and places to eat inside. Daylight brings out the building’s curves, and the lower level has fountains. The complex also has a food court and a range of dining options.

Four buildings joined by bridges

Galaxy SOHO

Zaha Hadid Architects designed Galaxy SOHO as a complex for offices, retail and entertainment. Four domed buildings are linked by bridges and platforms at different levels. Their curved floor plates and connected routes give the interior a sense of movement, carrying the design from one building into the next.

White panels and glass curtain walls wrap around the exterior. The buildings have no conventional square corners, and their rounded forms change as you move around them. Look up from the walkways to see the glass-covered upper sections and the lines of the facade.

The design includes courtyards within the connected buildings, drawing on the form of traditional Chinese courtyards. Each of the four buildings has its own atrium and circulation core, while shared bridges and routes connect them. A larger central canyon forms another open space between the buildings.

Walk through the complex at more than one level to see how the openings, bridges and curved walls relate to one another. From above, the layout brings the four structures into view; from inside, the routes reveal how the separate forms join together.

Offices, shops and places to eat

Galaxy SOHO combines workspaces with retail and entertainment uses. Shops, gyms, music lessons and restaurants are among the activities found in the complex. The food court and other dining options give you a reason to pause between exploring the architecture, and cat cafes are also among the places to eat or spend time.

The amount of commercial activity can feel limited in some parts, so treat the visit primarily as an architectural stop and check nearby streets if you want a wider choice of shops or restaurants. Summer events have included pizza and burger festivals, though event schedules are not specified.
