Het Zinneke

Het Zinneke is a bronze dog sculpture at Rue des Chartreux 35 in Brussels’s Dansaert district.

Het Zinneke is a bronze dog sculpture at Rue des Chartreux 35 in Brussels’s Dansaert district. The dog lifts a leg beside a bollard, continuing the city’s playful theme of peeing statues alongside Manneken Pis and Jeanneke Pis. At street level, you can get close to the sculpture and take a photo without a fountain or fence between you and the dog. It makes a quick, quirky stop while exploring the surrounding streets, and is a quieter alternative to the better-known statue.

The third statue in Brussels’s trio

Het Zinneke
Het Zinneke

Het Zinneke depicts a dog lifting its leg beside a bollard. It is the third of Brussels’s peeing statues, following Manneken Pis and Jeanneke Pis, and refers to the pair through the same irreverent subject.

Belgian sculptor Tom Frantzen designed the bronze work in 1998. Unlike a fountain statue, the dog stands at street level, so you can approach it closely.
