Three spaces for contemporary Australian art

Jan Murphy Gallery is on Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley. It opened in 1995 and focuses on exhibiting and selling contemporary Australian art. Its three exhibition spaces present work by artists from Brisbane and other parts of Australia, including both established and emerging artists.

The exhibitions change regularly, so the art on view shifts over time. Large windows look onto Brunswick Street and show part of the current display to people passing by. Check the gallery’s website or social media before visiting for information about upcoming shows and events.

Events and art consultancy

The gallery’s programme includes artist talks, curated projects and collector events. These give the exhibitions a broader context and can be a reason to plan a visit around a particular show or event.

If you are thinking about buying a piece, the gallery provides art consultancy and on-site consultations. Ask the staff about the work and the available guidance when you visit.
