Son Saura is a pair of sandy beaches, Es Banyul and Bellavista, on Menorca’s southwest coast near Ciutadella. A rocky point divides the two stretches of pale sand, with clear, shallow water for swimming and space to settle in. The short walk from the car park makes this a relatively easy beach stop. Bring food and drinks: facilities on the beach are limited, and conditions can include seaweed or stronger waves.

Two beaches, one cove

Son Saura
Son Saura

Son Saura on Menorca’s southwest coast is made up of Es Banyul and Bellavista, two sandy stretches separated by a low rocky point. The beaches sit in a broad bay, with pine woodland behind parts of the shore. Bellavista is the longer of the two; Es Banyul is the first beach reached from the car park.

The water is often shallow and clear near shore, making the bay a good place to swim or snorkel. Rocky areas offer places to look for fish. Seaweed can collect along the beach, and the water may be rougher than at some other coves, so conditions can affect a swim.

Getting to the shore

A car park serves the beaches, followed by a short, mostly easy walk to the sand. The parking area can close when it is full, so check for access notices before driving over and consider arriving early during the busy season.

There are few services on the beach. Pack food and water rather than counting on finding a place to buy them. Some shade is available, but it is limited. Nearby coves including Cala Pudent and Tosqueta are options if you want to explore beyond Son Saura.
