Parc de l'Espanya Industrial is a modern park in Barcelona’s Sants-Montjuïc district, beside Sants Station. Its lake reflects the trees at sunset, while a steel dragon doubles as a slide and sculptures recall the site’s industrial past. You can pause on the lawns, watch dogs play by the water or join in with the basketball and volleyball games. The park also hosts evening music and cultural activities, so check for scheduled events if you’d like to catch one.

A park shaped by its industrial past

The park stands on land once occupied by a cotton factory associated with the Muntadas family. The factory closed in the 1970s, and the site was later transformed into a park. Its design brings modern art and architecture together with green space, keeping a connection to the area’s industrial history.

Created in 1985, the park includes sculptures and futuristic-looking watchtowers. The lake, statues of Greek gods and dragon-shaped structure give the grounds a distinctive look.

The lake, dragon and activity areas

The lake and its reflections are a draw at sunset. Dogs play in the water, and children use a smaller fountain area. The fountains do not run continuously, and the water can look slippery, so take care near the edges.

The steel dragon is both a sculpture and a slide. Elsewhere, you’ll find playgrounds and courts used for basketball and volleyball. The park is also a place to sit outdoors, watch the activity or catch an evening music performance. Some areas can feel less comfortable late at night, so plan your visit with that in mind.
