Parque España is a leafy public park in the Condesa neighborhood of Mexico City, with shaded paths, statues and a lot of daily life. Dog owners and dog sitters gather here, and there is a dog park inside. Children have an enclosed playground with several separate play structures. Sports courts, a public gym and a quiet section round out the grounds. It suits a slow walk, a picnic or an hour of sitting in the shade on a hot day, and it sits right beside Parque Querétaro.

A park for dogs and their owners

Parque España

Parque España is best known for its dogs. On an ordinary day you will see many of them together, with dog sitters and owners spread along the paths. A dog park sits inside the grounds, and dogs are allowed throughout, so the park works well if you are traveling with one or simply enjoy watching them play.

For people who want less activity, the park has a quieter section away from the main flow. It is a calmer place to sit and read.

The playground is enclosed and has four different play structures with varied areas for children of different ages. Restrooms are near the play area and charge a small fee, around 5 pesos. Some structures are occasionally blocked off while the ground is repaired, and the park is cleaned regularly.

The grounds also have a basketball court, a volleyball court, a tennis court, a baseball field and a skateboarding area. There is a public gym too. Picnic tables and a barbecue grill are available for longer stays.

Daily life in Condesa

The park is part of how the neighborhood spends its days. Dance and boxing lessons take place here, and martial arts groups and scout troops use the space. Others come to jog, read or walk a dog. Condesa dates to the 1920s, and the park's paths wind through it, with trees and statues along the way.

The entrance and the parking lot are wheelchair accessible.

Parks and streets nearby

Parque Querétaro is adjacent, so the two parks make one easy walk, with street food vendors for a snack. Parque México, another of Condesa's parks, is known for its art deco sculptures. Avenida Veracruz borders Parque España, and cafes and restaurants fill the surrounding streets if you want a meal after your walk.
