The museum is behind Cagliari Cathedral and gathers objects left by successive bishops and archbishops, along with pieces donated for liturgical celebrations. Across five floors, the collection includes relics, tools, silver objects, goblets, monstrances, processional crosses, wooden statues and paintings.

These objects show the range of items used in church ceremonies and the artworks commissioned by the Church over the centuries.

One of the collection’s notable works is the Tríttico di Clemente VII, a fifteenth-century painting that may have been made by several Flemish artists over time. Its central panel depicts Christ’s lifeless figure with the Madonna; Saints Anne and Margaret appear beside them, with Margaret holding a dragon. The triptych may be a copy of a lost work by Rogier van der Weyden.

The underground rooms are associated with the plague of 1656. In the cathedral, look for the oversized marble pulpit sculpted in the 1300s.
