The Eavan Boland Library is part of Trinity College Dublin on College Street. Its quiet study spaces, book collection and French windows looking onto green grounds make it a place to pause on campus. Outside, look for Arnaldo Pomodoro’s spherical brass sculpture, known as “Sphere Within Sphere.” Access is limited to people with the required library permission, so check Trinity’s current visitor information before planning a visit. The library is wheelchair accessible at the entrance.
The sculpture outside

A spherical brass sculpture by Arnaldo Pomodoro stands in the open space in front of the library. Known as “Sphere Within Sphere,” it explores a spherical form, with a complex internal structure. The artist donated the work with support from Trinity College and Italian organisations.
A conservation project in 2008 restored the sculpture’s surface and its internal structure and pivot. Pomodoro made other works using the same spherical format, including one at the Vatican Museums that is twice the size of the Trinity sculpture.
Inside the library

The library is a place for study, with a substantial collection of books and a quiet atmosphere. French windows look onto green grounds. Study amenities include lamps designed to protect the eyes and accessible sockets for charging laptops. Toilets are on the ground floor.
The building is on the Trinity College Dublin campus, at College Street. Access is not open to every campus visitor, so check the university’s current entry information before setting out.
