The Frick Pittsburgh is a museum complex in Pittsburgh’s East End, built around Clayton, the former home of industrialist Henry Clay Frick. Explore the Frick Art Museum’s collection, see vintage cars and carriages, and take in the greenhouse and landscaped grounds. The property brings together art, Pittsburgh history and a preserved Gilded Age home. Admission is free for the gardens, the permanent art collection and part of the Car and Carriage Museum; tours of Clayton and some special exhibitions require tickets.
The Frick family’s East End estate

The museum complex grew around Clayton, the nineteenth-century residence of Henry Clay Frick. Frick was an industrialist and art collector who lived in Pittsburgh in the early 1900s. The house was his home from 1882 to 1905 and is now open for guided tours.
Clayton gives visitors a closer look at the Frick family’s life and the city’s industrial-era history. The estate is among the remaining Gilded Age mansions in Pittsburgh. Tours provide access to the house and offer more context than a walk through the grounds alone.
Art, cars and carriages

The Frick Art Museum includes fine and decorative art collected by Helen Clay Frick, as well as changing exhibitions. Its collection and exhibitions bring together works from different periods and places; past shows have included presentations on artists such as Rembrandt and Lewis W. Hine.
The Car and Carriage Museum displays vintage automobiles and carriages connected with the Frick collection. Parts of the museum are included in the free-access areas, while some exhibits may require a ticket. Check what is open when planning your visit.
Gardens and visitor access
Landscaped grounds and a greenhouse give the complex a quieter outdoor element alongside its galleries and historic buildings. The gardens are open to visitors, and the grounds are suited to a leisurely walk between museum stops.
Admission is free for the gardens, the Frick Art Museum’s permanent collection and a section of the Car and Carriage Museum. Clayton tours and some special exhibitions are ticketed. The site also has a café, a gift shop and free parking. The complex is at 7227 Reynolds St in Pittsburgh’s East End.
