The Wildlife Centre is set in a bushland habitat beside Enoggera Reservoir. Its animals include a platypus, wombat, echidna, tree kangaroo, crocodiles, reptiles and fish. Wallabies move freely around parts of the grounds. There are also nocturnal houses and a subtropical aviary visitors can walk through.

The Gondwana Platypus Rockpool is a place to look for the elusive platypus. Daily animal talks introduce some of the centre’s residents, with subjects including wombats, crocodiles and tree kangaroos. Talk schedules and individual animal presentations can change, so check the centre’s current information before planning around a particular one.

Walking trails and reservoir tracks

The trails around the centre pass through the surrounding bushland and along the reservoir. The 1.5-kilometre Corymbia Circuit takes about 45 minutes and goes through a wet eucalypt forest gully. For a longer walk, the 5-kilometre Araucaria Track takes about two hours, passing hoop pines and following the reservoir shore. Other walking routes reach up to 8 kilometres one way.

The ground can be slippery, so hiking boots are a practical choice. Mountain-bike trails are also available in the area; one route is described as demanding, so choose a ride that suits your experience.

Swimming and small watercraft

Enoggera Reservoir has a designated swimming area marked by yellow buoys. You can bring a kayak or stand-up paddleboard, and watercraft hire is available on site. The water is not always clear, and the swimming area can be crowded on busy weekends.

If you are carrying your own craft, parking on the right after the entrance puts you nearer the kayaking area. Bring water and sun protection for time outdoors, and keep food secured from birds when picnicking.

Café and facilities

The café serves coffee, breakfast and lunch, making it an option before or after a walk, swim or visit to the Wildlife Centre. Its deck looks through the surrounding trees. Restrooms are available at the centre, along with parking and accessible facilities.
