Las Vistillas Garden

Las Vistillas Garden is a small hillside park beside Plaza de Gabriel Miró in La Latina, Madrid. Its elevated paths look towards Almudena Cathedral, the Manzanares River and Casa de Campo. On sunny days, terrace bars nearby add a place to pause as the light changes over the city. Fountains, sculptures and clipped, maze-like bushes add interest within the garden. The park also hosts Madrid’s San Isidro festivities, so it can feel very different during festival dates from a quiet everyday visit.

A hillside garden above La Latina

Las Vistillas sits on a ridge beside Plaza de Gabriel Miró, close to the La Latina neighbourhood and the Segovia Viaduct. Its name refers to the views from this small garden. From the hillside, you can look towards the Manzanares riverbanks, Casa de Campo and Almudena Cathedral.

The garden is compact, with fountains, sculptures and bushes trimmed into maze-like shapes. There is a small grassy patch, though seating is limited. Some sections have graffiti and show signs of poor upkeep, so the main draw is the outlook and the local atmosphere rather than a long list of landscaped features.

San Isidro and the evening view

The Fiestas de San Isidro, held in honour of Madrid’s patron saint, take place at Las Vistillas each year. The garden becomes a gathering place for the celebrations, which are also described as family-friendly. Check the city’s event calendar for dates and plans before you go; the festival brings a very different visit from a quiet walk.

On sunny days, terrace bars around the garden draw people looking for a place to watch the sunset. Picnic areas also make it possible to bring food and sit outdoors. For a calmer visit, come when there is no festival and focus on the river and city views from the hillside.
