Euromast is a 185-metre observation tower beside Het Park in Rotterdam, with views across the city, the Maas and the harbour. Head to the observation platforms, then take the rotating glass Euroscoop higher for a changing panorama and a narrated look at the city. The tower also has a restaurant for meals and high tea above the skyline, plus two hotel suites for overnight stays. Book your ticket online to avoid an extra queue, and choose a clear day if you want the widest views.

Built for the Floriade

Euromast

Euromast was built for Rotterdam’s 1960 Floriade, an international horticultural exhibition. Designed by Rotterdam architect Huig Maaskant, the tower was first about 100 metres tall. A Space Tower extension added in 1970 brought it to 185 metres. It became a permanent part of the city after the exhibition and is now a listed monument.

Its mast-like form is easy to pick out in Rotterdam’s skyline. The tower’s place beside Het Park also makes it a natural stop while exploring the green space and the nearby harbour.

The observation platforms and Euroscoop

An elevator takes you to the main viewing level, where you can look out across Rotterdam from above. The city, the Maas and the port spread out around the tower; on a clear day, the view reaches farther beyond the city.

For the higher ride, take the Euroscoop, a rotating glass lift that travels to the top at 185 metres. A voiceover shares information about Rotterdam as the view turns around you. The extra ride has a separate ticket option, so check what your ticket includes before joining the queue. Some visitors find the glass floor less noticeable than expected during the ride.

Dining and staying overnight

Euromast’s restaurant sits high in the tower and pairs meals with a panorama of Rotterdam. The menu is described as including brunch, lunch, dinner, high tea and high wine. High tea can include sandwiches, scones, sweets and tea; seasonal ingredients are used for the restaurant’s set-menu option.

Two suites give guests the chance to stay overnight above the city. They have deluxe beds and city views, and breakfast is served in the room. The suites are a separate way to experience the tower, rather than part of a standard observation visit.

Abseiling from the tower

Abseiling is another activity associated with Euromast. It is bookable in advance, but it may not be easy to spot when planning a visit, so ask about it before you go if you are interested. The activity is not part of the usual observation experience.
