In Rome’s EUR district, Palazzo dei Congressi is a conference and event venue designed by Adalberto Libera. Its architecture makes it worth seeing even when no event is on: the building is part of a striking view with the Palazzo della Civiltà Romana and offers a glimpse of the architecture associated with Mussolini’s era. When events are scheduled, the venue hosts expos and concerts. Check the calendar before you go, or visit between events to focus on the building.
A building shaped over time
Palazzo dei Congressi is a project by architect Adalberto Libera. Construction began in 1938 and the building was completed in 1954, a span that places it within the architectural legacy of Mussolini’s era.
The venue is part of the EUR district’s architectural setting, with the Palazzo della Civiltà Romana in the surrounding view. The district is a reason to look beyond the building itself and take in its place among nearby landmarks.
Events and projections
The palace functions as a modern congress centre and hosts events including expos and musical concerts. Its renovation added multimedia technology capable of supporting large projections.
The experience can differ depending on the event. Some events have been described as well organised, while the layout can be confusing. If you are attending a specific event, check its arrangements in advance and allow time to find your way around.
