Pori Beach

Pori Beach is a broad crescent of pale sand on Pano Koufonisia, in the Cyclades. Clear turquoise water and shallow areas make it appealing for a swim, while red cliffs, black pebbles and nearby sea caves add variety to the shoreline. It is a quieter-feeling place to pause with a picnic and take in the views, though it can draw crowds later in the day. Services are limited, so bring your own food and water.

The shoreline and setting

Pori sits on the quieter east side of Pano Koufonisia. Its crescent-shaped stretch of fine, light sand curves around clear, shallow water. The beach is divided into smaller bays by red cliffs, with black pebbles and sea caves adding contrast along the coast.

The scenery changes as you move along the shore: pale sand gives way to dark stones and rock formations, with turquoise water in front. A small fishing port is nearby.

Planning a swim

The shallow water suits a gentle dip, including for families with children. Conditions can change when the wind picks up, and some beachgoers have found swimming difficult, so check the sea before entering.

There are few services on the beach. Pack what you need for the day, including water and food. You can reach the area by taking the bus boat from the Finika stop if you do not have your own transport.
