Paros Park covers a protected peninsula at the island’s northwestern tip, opposite Naoussa. Three marked walking trails cross rocky slopes, wildflower meadows and coastal viewpoints, with coves and beaches along the way. Follow a trail to Cape Korakas Lighthouse, or begin at Monastiri Beach, where you’ll find sunbeds and umbrellas in summer. The park also has a former monastery with a cartography exhibition, an amphitheatre and an open-air cinema. Entry is free, and the trails suit a short walk or a few hours by the sea.

Walking the peninsula

Paros Park

Paros Park protects the Aï-Yannis Detis peninsula on the northwestern coast of Paros, opposite Naoussa. The park opened in 2009 and covers about 80 hectares. Its landscape includes rocky slopes, caves, coves, meadows and coastal viewpoints.

Three marked trails cross the peninsula. The routes are described as easy to moderate, and some are suitable for families. Trail 3 starts at Monastiri Beach and leads around the peninsula; Trail 1 goes to Cape Korakas Lighthouse. The lighthouse stands on a bluff about 60 metres above the sea. At twilight, the route looks out over Naoussa and nearby islands.

Monastiri is the main beach at the park entrance, overlooked by the chapel of Aghios Ioannis Detis. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available to rent there during summer, and a lifeguard is present in July and August. Other beaches and quieter coves lie along the trails.

Beside the monastery, a museum in the former monk cells displays maps of Paros from 1770 to 1774. The exhibition covers the period when the peninsula was the headquarters of the Russian navy. The park’s amphitheatre hosts summer performances and events, while the open-air cinema screens films, including Greek classics. Cinema admission is free, and screenings start at 9 p.m.

Getting to the park

You can reach Paros Park by car, by water taxi from Naoussa port or by bus. From the Kolimbithres Beach bus stop, the walk to the park is about 30 minutes. Free valet parking is listed as available.
