Vancouver Lookout is a 360-degree observation deck atop Harbour Centre at 555 W Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver. A glass elevator carries you up to views of the city skyline, waterfront, North Shore Mountains and, on clear days, sights farther afield. Panels and an audio guide help identify landmarks and explain the city’s history. Come early in your trip to get a sense of Vancouver’s layout, or return later to see the skyline in a different light. The Top of Vancouver revolving restaurant is one floor above the deck.

Views from Harbour Centre

Vancouver Lookout

Vancouver Lookout occupies the top of Harbour Centre in the city’s downtown core. From 168 metres above street level, the enclosed deck gives you a full panorama of the skyline, waterways and mountains. Look north towards the North Shore Mountains, then scan across downtown, Gastown, Coal Harbour and Stanley Park. On a clear day, the view can extend towards Mount Baker and Vancouver Island.

The lookout is a useful first stop if you want to get your bearings before visiting the places you can see from above. Panels around the deck identify landmarks and provide context about the city. An audio guide is also available to add detail as you move around the viewing area.

The glass elevator and observation deck

The visit begins with a ride in a glass-fronted elevator from street level to the circular viewing deck. The ascent takes about 40 seconds. Once at the top, walk around the enclosed platform to see the city from different angles and take in the harbour, high-rises and distant peaks.

The view changes with the weather and the time of day. Clear conditions give you a better chance of making out distant landmarks; at dusk, the city lights begin to appear against the evening sky. Some admission tickets allow repeat entry on the same day, but check the current ticket terms before planning a return visit.

The revolving restaurant

Top of Vancouver, the revolving restaurant above the observation deck, turns once every hour. You can take in changing views during a meal or stop for a drink. Portobello mushroom soup is one dish to look for on the menu. The restaurant and lookout are separate parts of the Harbour Centre experience, so check their current access and booking details if you plan to dine.
