Discovery Cove is an all-inclusive day resort at 6000 Discovery Cove Way in Orlando, built around swimming, snorkeling and animal encounters rather than thrill rides. You can snorkel with tropical fish and rays in the Grand Reef, hand-feed birds in Explorer’s Aviary and float the Wind-Away River through tropical surroundings. Freshwater Oasis has otters and marmosets, while Serenity Bay is a place to swim and unwind. Meals, snacks, drinks, towels and snorkeling gear are included. The dolphin swim is an optional extra, so check what your booking covers before you go.

A day in the water

Discovery Cove is a SeaWorld sister park in Orlando, designed as an all-day resort with pools, beaches and animal habitats. Its focus is on time in the water and close encounters with wildlife, not roller coasters or water slides. You can spend the day moving between snorkeling, swimming, feeding birds and taking breaks on the beach.

Admission includes meals, snacks and drinks, as well as towels and snorkeling gear. The all-inclusive setup means you do not need to bring food or equipment for the activities covered with your admission. Check your booking details before arrival, because the dolphin swim is an optional add-on, not part of every package.

Reefs, lagoons and the river

The Grand Reef is the place to snorkel among tropical fish and rays. The freshwater habitats offer a different kind of encounter: at Freshwater Oasis, you can swim near otters and marmosets beneath a rainforest canopy. For a gentler pace, float along Wind-Away River, which passes through tropical landscaping and an aviary. Serenity Bay has a lagoon and a sandy beach for time out of the current.

Explorer’s Aviary gives you the chance to walk among tropical birds and hand-feed them. The park’s settings combine rocky lagoons, freshwater pools, reef habitats and white-sand beaches. You can choose a few activities to linger over or move around during the day.

Planning the animal encounters

Swimming with bottlenose dolphins is the park’s signature experience, but it is not required to enjoy the other included habitats. If that swim is important to your visit, reserve ahead and check available time slots when you book. Some experiences have minimum age requirements, so confirm the rules for your group before choosing a package.

Discovery Cove is suited to families and to travelers who want a slower day centered on water and wildlife. It is a poor fit if you are looking for fast rides. Bring water shoes, and reapply sunscreen as the day goes on. Towels and sunscreen are provided, so a small bag with only the items you need is enough. Professional photos from the dolphin experience can be purchased separately; plan for that expense if you want them.
