Green Art Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Warehouse 28 at Alserkal Avenue, Dubai. Its exhibitions bring together artists from the Middle East, Turkey and South Asia, working in traditional and newer media. The gallery’s programme is research-led, with work by artists from different generations. Its history stretches back to an earlier incarnation as Ornina, before it became Green Art Gallery in Dubai. Check the current exhibition before you go, since the works on view change.
From Ornina to Green Art Gallery
The gallery began as Ornina, a small art space above a bookshop in Syria. It later moved to Dubai and became Green Art Gallery. In its earlier years in the city, it exhibited artists from the region, including some who later became widely known.
The gallery’s programme shifted toward contemporary art in 2010. Its history spans changes in the regional art scene, and its current focus brings together artists from several regions and generations.
Artists and approaches
Green Art Gallery presents artists from the Middle East, Turkey and South Asia, with work across traditional and newer media. The programme centres on research-based practices and ideas connected to the present.
Rather than following a single medium or generation, the gallery brings different approaches into the same programme. Check what is currently showing before your visit, then ask staff about the artists or works that interest you.
