Also known as Casa de Alvarado-Bracamonte, the house was built for Diego de Alvarado-Bracamonte, who served as governor, corregidor and Captain of War. It later became the residence of six Captains General of the Canary Islands between 1705 and 1723.

The building links military authority with the wealth of the families who held power in the 17th century. Its substantial exterior and red volcanic stone give the façade a more imposing character than a simple private residence.

Look for the red volcanic stone framing the windows and entrance. The doorway is set between stone pilasters, with a balcony above it. Inside, rooms open onto a central courtyard, where a wooden gallery runs along the upper floor.

The arrangement also reveals differences in how the house was used. The upper level held the family’s living quarters, while the ground floor contained storage areas, wine cellars and stables. The building now accommodates municipal offices and La Laguna’s tourist information office. Entry is free.
