Moll de la Fusta

Moll de la Fusta is a waterfront promenade on Barcelona’s old port, at Ronda Litoral in Ciutat Vella.

Moll de la Fusta is a waterfront promenade on Barcelona’s old port, at Ronda Litoral in Ciutat Vella. Once a timber loading dock, it is now a public walkway with wooden decks, palm trees and benches facing the harbor. Follow the route to watch sailboats and yachts, and look toward the Monument to Columbus, which commemorates his first voyage to the Americas. The promenade also works as a calm link between the Gothic Quarter and Port Vell, with seasonal markets and events adding activity at times.

From timber dock to public promenade

Moll de la Fusta takes its name from its past as a timber loading dock. The waterfront has since been redesigned as a public space by architect Manuel de Solà-Morales. Its industrial history remains part of the setting, alongside broad wooden decks and an urban layout made for walking.

Vehicle traffic runs through an underpass beneath the promenade, leaving the waterfront level for pedestrians. The result is a route where you can walk beside the harbor without following the road above.

A route across the old port

The promenade connects the historic harbor with the more modern Port Vell area. A red movable bridge provides a crossing toward the Gothic Quarter. Along the way, benches and palm trees give you places to stop and look across the marina at ships and yachts.

The Monument to Columbus is another landmark visible from the waterfront. It commemorates Christopher Columbus’s first voyage to the Americas. Moll de la Fusta is also used for seasonal markets and events, including Nadal Al Port and Japanese festivals. During these gatherings, food stalls can draw queues, so check the separate payment and collection lines before joining one.
