Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is a long, oval square in Rome’s historic centre, a short walk from the Pantheon.

Piazza Navona is a long, oval square in Rome’s historic centre, a short walk from the Pantheon. Its shape follows the footprint of the first-century Stadium of Domitian, while its present Baroque character took form in the 17th century. Three fountains fill the open space, led by Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, with an Egyptian obelisk at its centre. Look also for Sant’Agnese in Agone and the surrounding palaces. Artists and performers add activity through the day; arrive early for a quieter walk.
