Frissiras Museum

Frissiras Museum is a contemporary art museum in Plaka, Athens, at Monis Asteriou 3 and 7. The museum was founded by lawyer and art collector Vlassis Frissiras and houses his private collection. The Frissiras family also oversees the foundation, which is described as a non-profit organization.

The collection focuses on contemporary Greek and European art. It includes more than 3,000 works across painting, drawing, sculpture and engraving. Figurative art has a strong place in the holdings, and the collection explores the human body, emotions and identity.

Changing exhibitions in a neoclassical setting

The museum occupies two neoclassical buildings in Plaka. Inside, an atrium and floating staircase set a modern note against the exterior. Exhibition rooms present works in different styles and media.

There is no permanent exhibition on view in the same way at all times. The museum organizes changing displays from its collection, so the artists and works you encounter depend on the exhibition.
