Kirribilli House stands on Kirribilli Point, on the northern side of Sydney Harbour. Built in 1854 by Adolph Feez as a Gothic-style marine villa, it was originally named Sophienberg. The house has been heritage listed and has accommodated Australian prime ministers since 1957.

It is the Prime Minister’s secondary official residence in Sydney. The Lodge in Canberra is the other official residence. One prime minister, John Howard, chose to make Kirribilli House his primary residence instead of moving to Canberra.
