On Saturdays, a farmers market brings fresh produce and souvenirs to the site. The mill is a useful stop for locally made goods and a glimpse of Waialua’s sugar-plantation history, close to Haleʻiwa.

From plantation to local shops

Waialua’s sugar operation began on Oʻahu’s North Shore in 1865. Its remote location made it difficult to transport sugar to steamships in Honolulu, and the plantation was sold in 1874. Castle & Cooke bought it in 1898. Sugar production has since ended at the mill, whose buildings now house local businesses.
