Kamaole Beach Park II is a sandy beach on South Kihei Road in Kihei, with a grassy area, lifeguard station and easy access to the shore. Its smaller, sheltered feel suits a relaxed swim or a short stop between other plans. Snorkel near the rocky ends early in the morning, when visibility is better and sea turtles may pass by. Bathrooms and outdoor showers make it easy to rinse off, and nearby restaurants and cafes are within walking distance. The sunset is lovely, though an island partly blocks the view.
Swimming and snorkeling

The sandy beach has a gentle slope from the grassy area and a lifeguard station near the middle of the shore. Swimming and sunbathing are popular here, and the water is often calm enough for an easy beach stop. Conditions can change, though: waves may become choppier later in the day, with stronger surf near the rocks at either end.
For snorkeling, head out early, when underwater visibility is better. Rocky sections along the shoreline attract marine life, and sea turtles have been spotted in the water. Bring your own mask and snorkel if you have them, as rental gear may be limited. Watch your footing around lava rock and avoid entering the water where waves are breaking heavily.
The park and nearby amenities

Kamaole Beach Park II is the smallest of Kihei’s three Kamaole beach sections. A grassy strip and small dunes sit between the road and the sand, with picnic tables on the lawn. The lawn can be a useful place to settle when wind picks up on the beach; shade is mainly found at the northern and southern ends and may not last through the afternoon.
Accessible ramps lead toward the beach. Public bathrooms and outdoor showers are available for rinsing off after swimming, and restaurants and cafes are within walking distance. The grassy area is also used by people visiting with pets. The shore is easy to reach from South Kihei Road, and parking is available along the street.
A late-day beach stop
The beach works well for a shorter visit between other plans, as well as for a longer stretch of swimming and sunbathing. In the evening, the shoreline is a place to watch the changing light over the water. An island partly interrupts the sunset view, so the horizon is not fully open from the sand.
