The Orpheum opened in 1926 as the final Los Angeles home of the Orpheum vaudeville circuit. Its stage has welcomed performers including Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder.

A fire in 1989 nearly destroyed the theatre. The owners chose to restore it, and a further renovation followed in 2001. The building remains in use for live performances, including music and comedy, as well as film screenings and other events.

Inside, the theatre’s detailed decor and traditional layout make the building part of the occasion. The seating is arranged across the orchestra, loge, balcony and side boxes, with views reported from different sections. The Mighty Wurlitzer, one of a small number of original theatre organs still in Southern California theatres, remains operational.

There is a lounge downstairs and a bar area upstairs. An operator-driven elevator and other accessible features are available. Some areas and seats have limited space, so consider your comfort and mobility needs when choosing a section.
