Sealodge Beach, also called Kaweonui Beach, is a small cove below Princeville on Kauaʻi, between Anini Beach and Princeville Point. A trail leads down the rocky coast to a mostly quiet shoreline with ocean views, scattered shells and reef formations close to shore. The reef draws snorkelers, and turtles can be seen in the water. Getting there takes a hike with steep, slippery sections and some rock-hopping, so bring suitable footwear and plan your return before sunset.

The trail down to the cove

The beach lies below Princeville, between Anini Beach and Princeville Point. The hike is about half a mile and takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes. It passes through greenery and along the rocky coast, with views of waves hitting volcanic rock before the cove comes into view.

The route can be hard to follow in places. Near the bottom, reaching the beach involves negotiating rocks. Steep sections can become slippery, especially after rain, so check conditions and wear footwear with good grip. Keep your hands free for the descent.

Snorkeling and the shoreline

A reef channel close to shore brings fish into the cove and gives snorkelers a reason to visit. Conditions can be rough in winter, which may make swimming difficult for beginners. There is no lifeguard, so stay within your ability and do not swim too far out.

The beach is small and has more rocks than sand. Shells are scattered along the shore, and turtles may be visible in the water. Avoid stepping on the reef: it is fragile, and sea urchins can injure bare feet.
