Grandview Point is a South Rim overlook in Grand Canyon National Park, about 12 miles from Grand Canyon Village along East Rim Drive. From the rim, you can look across the canyon from east to west, pick out bends in the Colorado River and see layers of colored rock. The Grandview Trail begins here and drops steeply below the rim, so sturdy shoes are important if you plan to walk it. Sunrise and sunset bring changing light to the canyon; nearby, Desert View Watchtower has tribal artwork and murals.
The view from the South Rim

Grandview Point sits along East Rim Drive, about 12 miles from Grand Canyon Village. It is one of the higher overlooks on the South Rim, at roughly 7,400 feet. From the rim, the view stretches across the canyon from east to west, with bands of color in the walls and several bends of the Colorado River visible below.
Look northeast for prominent formations including Krishna Shrine, Vishnu Temple, Rama Shrine and Sheba Temple. The view also takes in Horseshoe Mesa and, in the distance, the Desert View Watchtower. The changing light makes the rock layers especially vivid around sunrise and sunset.
Walking near the rim

The Grandview Trail begins at the overlook and descends into the canyon. Its narrow, steep sections make it a demanding route, not a casual stroll. Unpaved paths around the viewpoint also cross rocky ground, so sturdy footwear is useful even if you only plan a short walk.
Some small paths run below the viewing rail, close to steep slopes and the canyon edge. Take care on these routes and keep children close. You can enjoy the views without walking far from the overlook; going deeper on the trail requires more stamina and careful footing.
Continuing along East Rim Drive
Grandview Point is one stop on the drive between Grand Canyon Village and Desert View. The route continues past other viewpoints, including Moran Point and Lipan Point, and ends at Desert View Watchtower. There is no shuttle specifically for Desert View Drive, so plan to use a car for this stretch.
At the watchtower, you can see tribal artwork and murals inside the building, alongside views over the canyon. It makes a useful cultural stop to pair with the open-air overlook at Grandview Point. Tribal members can enter the park free with an enrollment ID.
