The Burj Khalifa and skyscrapers above a multi-level highway interchange in Dubai
    Wahrzeichen

    Burj Khalifa

Burj Khalifa rises 828 metres above Downtown Dubai and is the world’s tallest building.

Burj Khalifa rises 828 metres above Downtown Dubai and is the world’s tallest building. Take the high-speed elevator to At the Top on levels 124 and 125 for wide views across the city, desert and coastline; level 148 has another observation deck. The tower’s tapering form is striking from below, especially when its lights glow after dark. At its base, the Dubai Fountain performs a music, water and light show. Book your ticket ahead, and consider a visit after 4 pm to catch the sunset from above.

    The tower and its design

Burj Khalifa opened in 2010 and reaches 828 metres into the Dubai skyline. Its design is by architect Adrian Smith, and its tapering shape draws on traditional Islamic design. The tower’s Y-shaped plan arranges three sections around a central core. This layout accommodates different uses within the building while giving the structure its distinctive outline.

The skyscraper is part of Downtown Dubai. Its height and pointed peak make it visible from across the city, but its scale is most apparent when you stand near the base and look up. After dark, lighting changes the tower’s appearance against the skyline.

What to expect at At the Top

The observation experience takes you up by high-speed elevator. At the Top, on levels 124 and 125, gives you panoramic views over Dubai. From level 124, the city’s roads, buildings and coastline spread out below; level 125 has an indoor viewing area with 360-degree views. The outdoor deck on level 124 lets you take in the skyline in the open air.

For a higher vantage point, the observation deck on level 148 sits 555 metres above the ground. The different levels give you more than one way to see the city from above. On clear days, the views extend towards the desert and the Arabian Gulf. Haze can reduce visibility, so the view may be less distinct when humidity is high.

    The fountain at the base

Burj Khalifa stands beside the man-made Burj Khalifa Lake, where the Dubai Fountain performs a music, water and light show. You can see the performance from the area in front of the tower, and the show runs every 10 minutes. The fountain gives you a reason to spend time at ground level before or after the observation decks.

For a visit that includes both the views and the fountain, plan your ticket time around the sunset period if you want to see the city change from daylight to evening. Booking ahead can reduce waiting at this popular attraction. Restaurants and coffee shops nearby make it easy to add a meal or a break to your stop.
