At Fuerteventura’s southern tip, Punta de Jandía is a remote stretch of coastline reached by a 20 km dirt road or a walk along the coast. The stark landscape leads to a black volcanic-stone lighthouse dating from the 19th century, with a small museum inside. From the lighthouse, the coastline is especially clear to see at low tide. Set aside time for the journey, then continue to Puertito de Jandía for fish soup. The exposed setting can be windy, especially around sunset.

The lighthouse at Punta de Jandía is built from black volcanic stone and dates to the 19th century. A small museum is inside. At low tide, the view from the lighthouse takes in more of the surrounding coastline.

The peninsula’s exposed, rugged terrain is part of the visit. Sunrise and sunset bring changing light across the coast, but wind can make a long stop uncomfortable without an extra layer.

The route to the tip includes roughly 20 km of dirt road. An all-terrain vehicle is suggested for easier access over the rough surface. You can also approach on foot along the coast; the GR 131 runs almost continuously from Corralejo in northern Fuerteventura to Punta de Jandía, though some sections elsewhere on the route are unfinished.

After visiting the lighthouse, Puertito de Jandía is a place to stop for fish soup. The peninsula also appears among the natural settings used for the film *Exodus: Gods and Kings*.
