The museum is devoted to Seoul’s city wall, built during the Joseon dynasty. The wall followed the surrounding mountain ridges and formed a long boundary around the city. Its route is about 18.6 kilometres long.

Exhibitions cover the wall’s history, how it was built and managed, and the damage and reconstruction that followed. Archaeological excavation and restoration have brought sections of the old structure back into view, and much of the route can now be walked.
