The Saryeoni Forest Path is a walking trail through a planted forest of cedar and cypress trees in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, on Jeju Island. The route passes small volcanic cones called oreum, and its paths are wide and mostly flat, so you can take a short stroll or a longer walk. Most of the trail is shaded, and the air under the trees stays cool and humid. Come early in the morning for the freshest air and quieter paths.
Route and length

The trail goes through Mulchat Oreum and Saryeoni Oreum, two of the small volcanic cones in the area. The path takes its name from Saryeoni Oreum.
The full trail is about 15 km. How long you spend on it depends on your pace, and most walks take between 1 and 3 hours. You can walk a short section and turn back, or follow the loop for the full distance.
A bus stop is about 100 metres from the trail, a short walk uphill to the start. Parking is limited, and most spaces are on the street.
What you will see

The forest is made up mostly of cedar and cypress trees. Soft light comes through the branches, and the trail feels cool even on warm days.
A small library sits in the middle of the forest, and it makes a good photo stop. Locals come here for walking, healing and meditation, so the trail is often quiet, especially in the morning.
The paths are wide and mostly flat, so the walk is gentle. Families with young children tend to stop often to look at insects and spiders in the undergrowth.
Getting around the trail
The trail has a barrier-free route. The start point has restrooms and food trucks, and the entrance and parking lot are accessible.
The Joritdae Forest Road entrance is a bumpy, uphill approach. If you are walking with an elderly person or pushing a stroller, the Namjo-ro entrance, south of Red Oreum, is easier.
The north path is long, and many walkers find it less interesting than the right-hand loop. If your time is limited, the loop gives you the most of the forest in less distance.
Visiting quietly
Many people come here to walk slowly and breathe in the forest air. Keep your voice low on the paths and avoid strong perfume, which hangs in the still air under the trees.
Take your rubbish back down the trail. The start point has facilities, but the paths between them do not.
