From 1964 to the 2017 reopening

The first cable car in Korea opened here in 1964. It closed in 1988. The current line opened in June 2017, and it was built partly to bring more visitors to Songdo Beach. It was first known as the Songdo Marine Cable Car and now operates as the Busan Air Cruise. You will see both names in guides and on signs.

Choosing a cabin and ticket

There are two kinds of cabin: standard, and a glass-floor type known as the crystal cabin. The glass floor shows the sea below and the hills ahead. A round trip costs roughly 15,000 to 20,000 won per person, depending on the cabin you pick.

The station recommends buying tickets in advance. Both card and mobile payments are accepted, and the station has a restroom, a restaurant and paid parking.

At Amnam Park

The Sky Park station opens onto Amnam Park, which suits a longer stay. There is an observation deck, an outdoor playground and a dinosaur park with animatronic figures. The Songdo suspension bridge is here too, along with a forest park, hiking trails and street food stalls.

Because of this, the cable car is a common choice for families with children. Walkers can use the trails on the peninsula to spend more time on the headland.

Planning around the ride

Songdo is known for its sunsets, and the evening is a popular time on the beach. The cable car runs until 9 pm, so a ride after dark is possible, though daytime gives clearer views.

The station is close to Gamcheon Cultural Village, and the two fit into one day, either before or after the village. Each summer the Busan Sea Festival brings live performances to Songdo Beach.
