Miradouro dos Balcões is a mountain viewpoint reached by an easy walk from Ribeiro Frio in Madeira. The trail follows a levada through Laurissilva forest before opening onto views of the island’s central peaks, including Pico do Arieiro and Pico Ruivo. On clear mornings, the ridges stand out against the sky; when clouds gather below them, the mountaintops appear above a sea of cloud. Small birds can come close at the viewpoint, so pause there before walking back.
