The palace grounds are large, and the buildings and gates are notable for their scale and careful construction. Signs beside the main buildings provide additional information. A guided route leads through the palace area, while an audio tour gives context as you move between its different sections.

The palace visit is focused on architecture and the grounds. If you want to understand more as you go, download the free English audio guide before arriving. Without it, the buildings can be harder to tell apart.

Walking the garden route

Continue beyond the outer buildings and gardens toward the palace itself, then follow the path around the walled inner area. The grounds include large trees, a small lake, a waterfall, a flowing stream and bridges. There are also places to pause, and picnicking is permitted in the grounds.

Walking takes you along gravel and stone paths, with considerable distance between parts of the complex. In warm weather, carry water. If you arrive on foot, choose your drop-off point carefully: the boundary walls are extensive, and reaching an entrance can add walking time. Side and rear exits lead toward local residential streets.
