Torre di Longonsardo stands on the northern promontory of Santa Teresa Gallura. The 11-metre-high tower was built in 1559 as a coastal watchtower. Its position looks over the natural deep port and the entrance to the town.

The tower is a short walk or drive uphill from the village centre via Via del Mare. A footpath also winds around the headland, linking the visit with a walk along the coast.

Inside, you can find information about the tower’s history and a collection of artefacts. A QR code provided with the ticket links to further historical details. From the upper level, an open terrace gives a wide view across the sea and town.

The outlook reaches Rena Bianca beach, the islands of La Maddalena and the limestone cliffs of southern Corsica, about 14 kilometres to the north. The tower’s setting makes the terrace a place to pause over the coastline as well as a viewpoint.

Walking around the headland

Leave time to explore the grounds and follow the path around the promontory. The route passes rocky coastal scenery near the tower, with views of the sea on both sides of the headland.

The tower is also a place to watch the sunset over the sea. If you plan to visit at that time, check ticket arrangements in advance, as advance booking is recommended.
