Museo Carlo Bilotti

Museo Carlo Bilotti is a small contemporary art museum in the Aranciera, or Orangery, in Rome’s Villa Borghese.

Museo Carlo Bilotti is a small contemporary art museum in the Aranciera, or Orangery, in Rome’s Villa Borghese. Its permanent collection includes works by Giorgio de Chirico, Andy Warhol, Gino Severini, Giacomo Manzù and Larry Rivers. Temporary exhibitions and events are also held in the building. The intimate scale suits a quiet art stop between walks in the park; allow about an hour, then continue through the surrounding gardens.

The collection and its donor

The museum grew from Carlo Bilotti’s donation of works from his personal collection to the Municipality of Rome. Giorgio de Chirico is strongly represented, alongside artists including Andy Warhol, Gino Severini, Giacomo Manzù and Larry Rivers. The collection brings together paintings, sculptures and watercolours.

The Orangery and changing displays

The museum occupies the Aranciera, the Orangery in Villa Borghese. The building also hosts temporary exhibitions and events on the ground floor, so displays can extend beyond the permanent collection. Renovations have affected some exhibits, and the works on view may not always include the full collection.
