San Lazaro Tower, or Torreón de la Caleta, is a rounded coastal watchtower in Antonio Maceo Park, Havana. Built in 1665 by engineer Marcos Lucio, it formed part of the city’s colonial defenses, linking the La Chorrera and La Punta fortresses. Its three floors and soldiers’ loopholes offer a close look at that military role, while the tower’s position gives views over the sea and parts of the city. Stop here during a walk along the Malecón between Vedado and Old Havana.
