John Lennon Park is a small green space in Havana’s Vedado neighborhood, with a life-size bronze statue of the musician seated on a bench. A tile beside it carries a line from “Imagine” in Spanish, a detail worth pausing to read. The park draws Beatles fans and local residents, and children play beneath the trees. It is a simple stop for a photo and a quiet break from the city; a weekend market adds another reason to visit if you are nearby.

The statue and its inscription

The park’s main draw is a life-size bronze John Lennon seated on a bench. Beside it, a tile bears the Spanish words “Dirás que soy un soñador pero no soy el único,” translated as “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.” The line comes from Lennon’s song “Imagine.” Pause to read it as well as to take a photograph.

The park was dedicated to Lennon after his music, once frowned upon in Cuba, became more openly embraced. One account dates the statue’s unveiling to 2000. The tribute connects the small Vedado park with Lennon’s message of peace.

A stop in Vedado

John Lennon Park is at the corners of 18th Street and 15th Avenue in Vedado. It is a compact stop for music fans, but it also works as a green pause during a walk through the neighborhood. Children play among the trees, and the space is used by both residents and visitors.

The park has playground equipment and picnic tables, along with sports facilities including basketball, volleyball and tennis courts. On weekends, a market brings additional activity to the area. Visit earlier or later in the day if you would prefer a calmer moment by the statue.
