Artecorte in Old Havana brings together a working barbershop, a hairdressing museum and an art gallery. Vintage scissors, combs and brushes sit alongside a century-old barber’s chair, while graffiti marks the nearby corner. The space also runs free hairdressing and bartending classes for young people. On Wednesdays, Los Abuelos lead dancing nights. Come to see how hairdressing shapes the place’s history and daily work, then stay for the art or dancing if the evening suits your plans.

A museum inside a working barbershop

Artecorte
Artecorte

Artecorte combines a hair salon with a museum devoted to the art of cutting hair. Its collection includes antique scissors, combs, brushes and other tools for men’s grooming. Customers sit in a century-old barber’s chair, so the objects are part of a place where hairdressing still happens, not just a display.

The salon also caters to women, with services that include manicures, pedicures, facials, peels, haircuts, colouring and extensions. An appointment is recommended.
