Opera Holland Park stages opera in a semi-open tent in Holland Park, west London. Performances are sung in their original languages, with the stage close enough to give the venue an intimate feel and clear sightlines from the seats. You can also step out for a walk in the park during the interval. The open sides let in the air, so the setting is part of the experience; on wet or windy days, seats near the edges have less shelter.
Opera in a semi-open tent
Opera Holland Park presents performances in an outdoor setting, with the semi-open tent allowing air to pass through. Productions are sung in their original languages. The close relationship between the seats and the stage helps create an intimate atmosphere, and sightlines are clear from around the auditorium.
The setting also means weather matters. If rain or wind is expected, seats near the sides or back of the tent have less shelter. Comfortable seats and good legroom make it easier to settle in for the performance.
The interval and getting around
During the interval, you can leave the venue for a walk through Holland Park. The park is also the setting for a free self-guided walk that includes Opera Holland Park among its highlights.
Allow time to find your way around before the performance: signage can be limited. At the end of the evening, use the designated exit gate listed in your event information, as other gates may be locked. Refreshments are available on site, though bringing your own is a practical option.
